Clear Advantage SAT Prep Services opened in January 2001. Owner Mary “Dee” Bulvanoski, a teacher in the English Department of Monmouth University, initiated the test prep business with the assistance of an experienced mathematics teacher. Originally, courses included eight 3-hour sessions preparing students for the old SAT’s.

With the advent of the new SAT’s in spring 2005, Clear Advantage expanded its program to TWELVE SESSIONS so that we could accommodate the test’s inclusion of Algebra II and the Writing section and give students more test-taking practice. Our sessions are broken down into ten classes that offer strategies and skills-building, as well as practice tests. Two full-length proctored SATs are administered on the two Sunday afternoons before the real SATs. PSAT courses are also available for students who wish to gain an extra advantage by beginning their SAT prep early.

Mrs. Bulvanoski worked for other well-known test prep services before starting her own business. She created SAT Prep Services as a program that would meet the demanding standards she set for her own children’s SAT preparation. (All four of her children are now “alumni” of !!) These standards include small classes, attention to test prep strategies and skills, and individualized “extra help” sessions. also offers extensive tutoring for students who prefer to work with teachers on a one-to-one basis. Most importantly, all of the courses and tutoring sessions offer LOTS OF TEST PRACTICE!!

Presently, Mrs. Bulvanoski teaches all Critical Reading and Writing sections, and experienced math teachers Karen Kenny Dettlinger and Samantha Swindells Pontecorvo teach the mathematics sections. (All teachers participate in tutoring sessions as well.)

Formerly a high school English teacher at Red Bank Catholic High School and a summer school teacher at Red Bank Regional High School, Mrs. Bulvanoski also taught in the English Departments at Georgian Court University and Ocean County Community College before coming to Monmouth University. Outside of the classroom, she served nine years on the Oceanport Board of Education and was Board President for two years. She also served as President of the Monmouth County School Boards’ Association, and received the distinction of joining a select group of “Master Board Members” recognized throughout the state by the New Jersey School Boards’ Association.

Mrs. Bulvanoski has devoted her entire career—both professionally and personally—to helping students learn. At , our teachers care about our students and do our very best to motivate each one to achieve his/her full SAT potential. Each student sets a personal goal at the beginning of the course (or tutoring session) and works to attain that goal throughout the classes (or tutoring sessions).

By the end of each course, students have practiced individual strategies, worked on completing test sections under timed conditions, reviewed mathematical formulas, and learned new vocabulary.
