Tutoring Sessions
Some students prefer working one-on-one with the SAT prep teachers, either as a complement to SAT Prep courses, or instead of taking classes.
What are the advantages of participating in tutoring sessions?
One-on-one sessions allow teachers to create an SAT prep experience which directly meets each student’s needs. Students may elect to take more sessions in a weaker subject area and fewer classes in a stronger area.
SPECIAL BONUS: Free unlimited (Sunday afternoon) practice SATs for students who participate in 6 or more one-on-one tutoring sessions (Critical Reading, Math, Writing, or a combination). See practice test dates included with course schedules.
How many sessions should students schedule?
It depends on the student and his/her goals. Some students are stronger in one area than in another. They may elect to take more sessions in the weaker area. Generally, we suggest that students schedule approximately 4 to 6 sessions of Critical Reading and/or Mathematics, as well as 2 to 4 sessions of Writing. Together, the student, parent, and teacher decide how many classes are appropriate for each student in each subject area.
How long are the sessions, and where do they meet?
Each tutoring session is 1 ˝ hours long. These longer sessions allow for maximum integration of skills-building and practice. There is homework assigned between sessions. Generally, our sessions are held in the Student Center of Monmouth University. Generally, only one session (either Mathematics, Critical Reading, or Writing) is held on any given day.
How much does each session cost?
Each 1 1/2 hour session costs $100.
