Why choose Clear Advantage?

We can think of lots of reasons. Here are a few…

  1. We offer LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES for PRACTICE TESTS, we teach strategies and skills... and we point out the SAT “traps.” Additionally, we administer full-length proctored SATs designed to get students in shape for the real test.
  2. Students who participate in any of our courses can come back and take as many “refresher classes” and practice tests as they wish... at no extra charge!!! Students who participate in tutoring sessions*can also take as many of our Sunday practice tests as they want!!!
*6 or more sessions of Critical Reading, Math, Writing—single subject or a combination
  3. All of our PSAT and SAT instructors are extremely knowledgeable in their subject areas. This enables our teachers to more effectively help students over the “stumbling blocks” they may encounter as they learn SAT strategies and increase test-taking skills.
  4. We offer make-opportunities. A student who misses a class in one session can come for extra help, and/or participate in the same class in a different session IF there is another course directly following; e.g., a student taking a March SAT prep course may be able to take a make-up class in the May SAT prep course.
  5. We offer ONE HOUR OF EXTRA HELP during every class (1/2 hour of verbal and 1/2 hour of math). These extra help times are beneficial for those who need more one-on-one help and for those who have missed the subject material because of absences.
  6. We offer make-up classes. A student who misses a class in one session may take the same class in a different session.
  7. Our location is comfortable and “college-y.” Classes are taught in a seminar room at Monmouth University. Inside the classroom, we have a long seminar table and comfortable, roomy chairs. We also have a very relaxed food policy throughout our classes. Students can bring drinks and snacks from home or purchase food and drinks from the MU convenience store, commuter cafeteria, coffee bar, or vending machines (located outside the classroom and on the first floor of the Student Center).
  8. We take a personal interest in our students’ futures. Throughout the course, we encourage our students to email us with questions and concerns. And after the course is over, we follow-up with inquiries about SAT scores as well as college plans.

Please feel free to call or email us for references, as well as for suggestions about how to set up an SAT preparation program that meets your needs.

Clear Advantage is entering its twelfth year of operation as an independent educational business staffed by top-notch education professionals. We have helped hundreds of high school students from Monmouth and Ocean counties to dramatically improve their SAT scores.

Mary “Dee” Bulvanoski, the owner of Clear Advantage , is also the Critical Reading and Writing instructor. Presently an English teacher at Monmouth University, she has previous teaching experience at Georgian Court University, Ocean County College, Red Bank Catholic High School, and Red Bank Regional summer school. In addition to Mrs. Bulvanoski, each class is staffed with an experienced mathematics professional. All classes provide verbal and mathematics preparation for the SATs.

Math teacher/tutor Karen Kenny Dettlinger is a former math teacher at The Academy of Allied Health and Science and a current math instructor at NJ Virtual School—MOESC. Math tutor Samantha Swindells Pontecorvo is currently a math teacher at Red Bank Catholic High School.
